Read a review of the concertThe Bath Festival Orchestra’s debut London performance was an invigorating performance contrasting the gentle reflective beauty of Vaughan Williams’ Two Hymn-Tune Preludes with three lively other works: Ethel Smyth’s effervescent and shamefully neglected Serenade in D, Helen Grimes’ brilliant Clarinet Concerto played virtuosically by amazing Julian Bliss and Joseph Haydn’s stately Symphony No.104 ‘London’. Peter Manning conducted this energetic and ambitious group of young musicians, led by Maren Bosma.
Instead of a concert programme, we asked Jess Gillam to make a 30 minute podcast that does the same job ! Please click here to listen to Jess talking about the music we played and her conversations with Peter Manning, Julian Bliss and Maren Bosma. Behind the Notes podcast
