The performance introduces Dutch cellist Ella van Poucke alongside conductor Peter Manning and the energetic and ambitious musicians of the Bath Festival Orchestra. We move backwards in time, with an all-female first section, starting with a UK Premiere from Italian composer Alba Rose Viëtor and continuing before the interval with Florence Price’s well-known Adoration’. The second part of our concert features two classics of the orchestral repertoire, Schumann’s cello concerto and Mendelssohn’s Symphony no. 4 ‘Italian’.
